Summary of the role

As our ‘Skills Programme Leader’ you will be ultimately responsible for the leadership, management and assessment for our ‘Skills’ (inclusive education) programme at Tek Ura. Working closely with the relevant project coordinators and the Innovation Leaders, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the programme using appropriate teaching, learning and assessment methods, implementing necessary modifications, and communicating with stakeholders. You will play a key role in the development and sustainability of Tek Ura’s services, ensuring that the programme remains rooted in our values and ethos. The projects you will lead include homework club, preschool activities, English language classes, and working closely with other team members to provide holistic support for marginalized families.

Key responsibilities

  • Use your experience to take a lead in our ‘Skills’ programme

  • Be responsible for the general organisation of Tek Ura alongside the other programme leaders

  • Plan and implement strategic community education and skills development projects which engage marginalised people groups in Durres.

  • Develop appropriate resources to be used within the Skills program

  • Represent and promote Tek Ura, upholding our values and ethos

  • Build relationships with the directors of local educational settings and community leaders to develop joint strategies to improve inclusion

  • Work to promote and support school attendance through our skills programme.

  • Identifying skills gaps and solutions for people who need help in our community

  • Develop individual education plans with family involvement and ensure robust reviews and progression.

  • Implement sustainability plans, including fundraising initiatives

  • Researching and referring people to community skills resources, along with relevant/appropriate programmes operated through Tek Ura.

  • Responding to crisis situations such as child abuse in communication and collaboration with the CPU and other relevant agencies and the Tek Ura team.

  • Improve trust, understanding, respect and positivity, by strengthening relationships and social capital in Durres

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working professionally with children

  • Degree educated

  • Proven ability to coordinate projects/ programmes

  • Able to teach basic English to Albanian children

  • Able to think strategically and lead others

  • Able to network and build relationships with community stakeholders

  • Excellent organisational and personal time management skills, and able to work under pressure.

  • Strong communicator with excellent language skills B2-C2 (in Albanian and English)

  • Strong match with the values and ethos of Tek Ura, non-judgemental, and adopts an anti-discriminatory approach to working

  • An appropriate understanding of state services and social policies

  • Willingness and capacity to engage in fundraising and activities than build the sustainability of the program and Tek Ura as a whole

  • Experience of conducting training and mentoring of junior team members

Desirable

  • Experience working for a non-profit organization

  • Experience of developing volunteers

  • Experience of leading programs

  • Established relationships with schools and local government bodies

  • Experience of direct working with Roma and Egyptian communities in Durres

  • Able to drive a car
